After completing his Masters degree, he taught at Gyelpozhing Higher Secondary School, Mongar for 20 years and then in Yoezerling Higher secondary School, Paro for 4 years.
He has published three books with DSB Publications during his career. He had also conducted an action research on Factors affecting academic achievement while he was in Gyelpozhing HSS.
During his career, Sudev Mariyil worked as School Management Board member, School Management Team member, HOD (Mathematics), School Academic Board member, Examination Coordinator, Mess Coordinator, Audio visual in-charge, Internal Auditor, Games & Sports Committee Member, among others.
The combination of his research, academic and managerial experiences will contribute meaningfully to the academic and personal development of the students.
